III76

When you are cruel, it feels unjust
to those who seek you fervently, and do not despair.

But I never think of you as vicious, O Friend.
You can do no wrong in the eyes of True religion.

Any eye that does not feel with tears must be blind,
Any heart that does not have a little love is useless.

The bird of Happiness will bring good tidings,
Ravens and blackbirds never give you anything.

Don't criticize me for turning to the Sufi,
The Priests themselves say "there's no passion in this mosque!"

Without Truth, a church and a temple of idols is the same.
A church without real spirit is nothing but a name.

Hafiz! Stay with wisdom and learning!
Elsewise you'll never gain the company of the Divine.
