IV105

I tried to sleep in a flood last night,
but thinking of the Beloved drowned me in my tears.

I thought of the Beloved's brow, and my heart lit ablaze.
I stare deep into my cup to try to see the Beloved's beauty.

The Friend has arrived; his face glowing.
In my bliss I would reach up to kiss the moon.

I looked at the Saki, I listen to the lyre;
all of my senses enhanced looking for signs.

I think of the Beloved's face till sunset,
I have promised my weary eyes the Beloved's gaze again.

Saki! Serve wine in tune with the song,
I'll add the lyrics, in the home of the Teacher.

Hafiz! Enjoy your time, do what thou wilt,
And in memory of the Friend, take your bow gracefully.
