IV118

I'm known for my lovemaking all over town,
I see no evil, so my robes cannot be sullied.

I stay loyal and happy despite people's condemnations,
In my religion, its a sin to feel dismay.

I asked the Sage: "What is the true Salvation?"
The Sage lifted his wineglass, and said "Forgive sinners".

Any who see the rose-garden of the world
will desire to pluck your rose-beauty.

I see my fortune in water, I worship drink;
thus is the way to destroy all selfishness.

O Friend! I will rely on the grace of your beauty.
It is the only thing on which I can depend.

And now I'll try to reach the tavern,
I'm tired of those who preach one thing and do another.

Learn a lesson from the charming beauty of the Friend,
The Friend considers it a duty to be beautiful.

Hafiz! Kiss the cup, and kiss the honest Saki's chin!
But kissing the hand of a hypocrite is sinful.
