IV120

Why do you choose to separate Lovers?
Why do you banish true Lovers from your court?

Give this thirsty desert beggar a drink,
Do this for Allah's sake.

You have stolen my heart; I forgive you.
But care for it better than you have cared for me.

I can't bear to look
When you offer my cup to another.

O fly! You cannot fly as high as the falcon,
You'll look foolish and stupid if you try.

It's not your fault that you're kept away from Allah's gate,
There's no use being troubled, let's not complain.

Hafiz! Kings demand a record of your deeds,
You have no right to aspire to unearned rewards.
