II62

Don't hope to catch beauty in your heart,
You cannot trap the world in a crystal ball.

Those who strut through town with fancy hats,
will lack a bare head to receive the crown of the
kingdom.

Just as a poor man expects no praise from his prayers,
The Friend knows well what his students are hiding.

I love the Lovers of Freedom, who risk their lives,
Though they be poor, they have the secret of the
alchemical formula.

Its good, but hard, to be loyal.
Its far too easy to be unreliable.

I lost my heart, still I failed to see,
how beauty holds the secret of the spirits.

Not everyone with long hair is a Sufi,
Mystics are secret, they hide where they're not
expected.

Only those who truly love the word,
are truly aware of Hafiz' poetry.
