Part V: Associations
The beginning of society is when you form associations. These associations can be formed from natural elements: friendship, fraternity, love, compassion, charity.
But more often, within society, they are formed by the illusion of common cause.
This is when you imagine that you and this other group of people are united by similar conditions related to similar fantasies in your own minds of what will create happiness for you.
You believe that the people around you want to acquire the same things you want, that they belong to the same special class as you do; the associations are made to exclude others who are not "like you" or do not "understand" the world the way you do.
These types of associations then work to reinforce the delusions of all of its members: whatever you think your "goal" is, your desired result, this feeling is confirmed and strengthened if you find others who you believe share the same goals, and thus reinforce the validity of your goals.
